LANSING, MI—The University of Wisconsin-Madison is the next host of America's largest and oldest continuously-held conference for queer and trans+ college students. The 29th annual Midwest Bisexual Lesbian Gay Transgender Asexual College Conference (MBLGTACC) will be held February 12-14, 2021 at Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center.

MBLGTACC, the flagship program of the Midwest Institute for Sexuality and Gender Diversity, is a three-day, student-run conference featuring a variety of keynote speakers, workshops, identity forums, and entertainment. The conference aims to connect, educate, and empower students from across the region and nation.

UW-Madison was selected to host the gathering in a competitive bid process; and, for the past year, the student leaders from UW and Edgewood College have been diligently moving through early planning stages. This will be the third time MBLGTACC has visited Madison and the fourth time the conference has been held in Wisconsin.

"MBLGTACC was an empowering personal and professional experience for me," says UW-Madison student Adrian Lampron. "It was really fun to connect with other student leaders and learn from experts in living as a queer person. I’m so thrilled we’ll get to continue that experience for attendees next year when the conference is hosted here in Madison."

"The student planning team and support staff from UW and Edgewood are ready to take big ideas and turn them into action," says Roze R.B. Brooks, the director of operations for the Midwest Institute for Sexuality and Gender Diversity. “We’re excited to collaborate with them on conceptualizing a space that will uplift and center the indisputably valuable role of protest and activism in our collective work.”

The 2021 conference theme is From Protest and Beyond Pride. Conference registration and a call for workshop proposals are tentatively scheduled to launch in summer/fall 2020, with announcements of speakers and entertainers to follow.
