Institute welcomes Walters, Barth to team

The Midwest Institute for Sexuality and Gender Diversity is delighted to announce that its team is growing.

Michelle Walters joins the Institute as a social media specialist. In this role, she manages the Institute’s social media accounts. Michelle posts content, responds to questions from the public, and assists with other marketing needs. Michelle graduated from Michigan State University in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a specialization in public relations. She has previous social media experience working for the MSU Physical Plant and Murad Skincare, and is dedicated to promoting equality and change through her role at the Institute.

Noah Barth joins the Institute as a historian. With a background in studying and preserving queer history, they will work to recover documents, artifacts, and oral histories from past MBLGTACCs and other queer campus histories across the Midwest. Noah will graduate from DePaul University in the spring/summer 2017 with a bachelor of arts in American studies and a minor in community service studies. As a student, they served on the MBLGTACC Oversight Committee in 2014-2015 and chaired the conference in 2017. Noah currently works as an HIV and STI prevention counselor in Chicago, and has volunteered at the Leather Archives & Museum in Chicago since 2015.

Please join us in welcoming Michelle and Noah to the Institute team.

The Midwest Institute for Sexuality and Gender Diversity empowers students of diverse sexualities and genders to inspire sustainable change; leads higher education colleagues in relevant and inclusive practices; and advances knowledge of sexuality and gender through advocacy and expansive programming.
