On Thursday, April 19th, the Institute will be celebrating Give OUT Day, the only national day of giving for the queer and trans+ community. During the day-long event, we'll be raising critically needed funds that support our ongoing work to connect, educate, and empower queer and trans+ college students in the Midwest.
"For decades and decades, from bar fundraisers and penny jars to gala fundraisers and major gifts, individual donors have funded progress at every step," says Give OUT Day organizer Horizons Foundation. As an all-volunteer, grassroots team, the Institute relies on individual donors, in part, to fund this work.
Through our flagship program, MBLGTACC, we partner with college students and higher education professionals to host the nation’s largest conference for queer and trans+ college students. For the entire lifecycle of the conference planning process, we provide direct professional development and continuous mentorship that builds conference organizers’ project management skills, creativity, and confidence.
Through our future initiatives, we aim to adapt our partnership model to support existing work in the region, collaboratively develop new and innovative programs that meet emerging needs, and continue centering our region’s most marginalized every step of the way.
Give OUT Day will take place online all around the world, and this story will be updated when our Give OUT Day giving portal is live. We hope you’ll join us—pay it forward and support students this April 19th.
