Social media is for promoting social justice.

Michelle Walters is the digital communications coordinator for the Midwest Institute for Sexuality and Gender Diversity. In this role, Michelle manages the Institute’s social media accounts and coordinates digital outreach initiatives. She posts content, responds to questions from the public, and assists with other marketing needs. The 2017 conference was Michelle’s first MBLGTACC experience. She is dedicated to promoting equality and change through her role at the Institute.

Michelle graduated from Michigan State University in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a specialization in public relations. She has previous social media experience working for the MSU Physical Plant and Murad Skincare. She is currently working at a financial institution where she manages the intern program. In that role she helps college students with professional development and achieving their dreams.

Although she grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, after graduating college, Michelle remained in Michigan where she lives with her husband and two cats. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, and traveling with friends.
